Week of September 15th

We had another awesome week! We finished our first math unit, we finished our first science unit, and said good-bye to one of our classmates.

MATH
I have finished grading the first math unit test.  Your child will be bringing home 2 tests, their pre-test stapled to their post-test.  I will be stressing growth rather than score.  Please ask and review their results, and if you have any questions, feel free to call me.  The kids did a great job!

SCIENCE
We have finished our study of rocks and minerals.  It was a wonderful experience for the kids (and me).  They had so much enthusiasm and knowledge, I was really impressed!  We will have a hard time moving forward.  We will now go into our study of the Midwest.

LITERACY
Our focus skills for the rest of the month will be: main idea, supporting details, and non-fiction texts. Please remember that your child needs to be reading their WEB book each night and completing their reading log (book diary).  This includes identifying book title, minutes read, and a summary or reflection.  I have sent home a packet regarding their responsibilities with this project.  It is to be completed at home with guidance from me at school.

Enjoy your weekend!
