GOBBLE! GOBBLE!

Thanksgiving break is quickly approaching.  Next week we have Monday, Tuesday, and part of the day Wednesday to finish up our orangutan projects and work on our turkey persuasive writing.  Remember that Wednesday is early dismissal and we are off Thursday and Friday.

Social Studies
We are completing our study of the different regions of Illinois and will be working on the history of Illinois. This week coming up will include completion of expert groups and research of a specific events in history.  Then, as a class we will complete a timeline illustrating the history of Illinois.  This will conclude our study of Illinois and we will be moving into science next!
Math
We are continuing to work on multiplication and the many strategies for solving those types of problems.  We will move into multiple digit expressions next week.
Homework for next week:  No Problem of the Week
Only two nightly lesson homework worksheets
Literacy
We are focusing on point of view.  We have read a story about orphaned orangutan's and are finishing presentations about what life was like for the orangutan.  The kids are having a great time becoming an orangutan.  Next week we will take that point of view skill and focus on persuasive writing.  They will write a letter to their family as if they were the Thanksgiving turkey.  They will be persuading you NOT to eat turkey.  Remember to continue that WEB 3 book and diary!
Homework for next week: No spelling homework!

I hope that everyone has an enjoyable break, don't eat too much, and be safe in your travels!
