Week of November 11, 2013

This being a short week, I will discuss things going on over the next two weeks.  Believe it or not, next week is the last full week before Thanksgiving Break! We are moving forward so quickly.

Social Studies
We have just finished our study of the Midwest.  Rather than move to science and then back to our study of Illinois, it made more sense to move right into our Illinois Unit.  After we have completed this, we will go back to science.  There will only be 2 Home School Connections associated with this unit, so be sure to look out for those coming up next week.

Math
Time for multiplication and division.  The students will benefit from as much practice as possible with the basic facts up to 12! We will continue to practice them in class, but don't hesitate to use the link below (and to the right) to get more time on Xtra Math.

Literacy
We will continue our study of comparing two texts, and comparing a text and a movie.  We will be doing some creative writing and acting in order to demonstrate understanding.  We will create Movie reviews for The Tales of Despereaux and then we have read two different stories and will write and perform a commercial selling the books.  I can't wait to put all those acting skills to the test!

Just a quick reminder that WEB 3 has begun.  Given the amount of days off during the month's of November and December, it is REALLY important to stay on top of the reading and book diary.  Our first summary went well and I look forward to seeing improvement in the upcoming summary.
